The Night Shift season 4 spoilers: Mark Consuelos set for major role
The Night Shift season 4 will be premiering on NBC this summer, and leading up to that, we’ve learned about one of the significant new additions to the cast for the coming season.
According to a new report coming in via TVLine, Mark Consuelos is going to be appearing in multiple episodes in the role of Cain, an accomplished, charismatic travel nurse. Here’s the twist — back in Mexico, he was actually an ER doctor with more than a decade’s worth of experience. So why is he working in a lesser position now? Part of that has to do with him being new to the country. He was even a chief attending at one of his prior gigs!
Now, he has to start over as a resident, which is the sort of situation that happens to many immigrants in America despite their past work experience. At times, it doesn’t even matter where you came from or the field that you’re in. It’s unfortunately and rather depressing, especially since there’s a lack of trust between countries and the way in which they do things.
Personally, we’re thrilled to see Consuelos on The Night Shift given that it is a great show that needs all of the added publicity that it can get. It was rather under the radar for the first three seasons, and that could be this way yet again this summer.
What does this mean for Pitch?
Don’t look at this as a sign that the Fox show is going to be canceled. The site mentions that Mark could feasibly do the show and then also Pitch in the fall if it does get renewed. That’s good news for him in terms of plenty of work, and then also great news for us given that it means that we get double the opportunity to see him in some great roles.
For the record, we do think that Pitch will likely return, especially as we watch some other programming on Fox fizzle. We see it coming back as more likely than some other shows like Rosewood, Sleepy Hollow, APB, Scream Queens, and potentially even 24: Legacy after its recent struggles.
