Saturday Night Live – Louis CK promo: The sound of subtle
As a matter of fact, we would argue that this promo is a direct response for the episode hosted by Aziz Ansari a little bit earlier this year. While that promo was big, bawdy, and loud in between the lights and the production (while still being funny), this one is funnier more in its ability to play up CK’s soft-spoken charm. He shies away from all of the lights, and makes it clear that he wants to keep things simple. It’s still funny, but in a different way that is distinctly Louis CK.
This show is going to also feature a musical performance by The Chainsmokers, but if we are thinking and writing here mostly in terms of what we’re anticipating, it’s mostly about one thing more so than any others — an opportunity to watch Louie effectively be Louie. His monologue is the main event, given that he’ll probably have so much to talk about in between current events and matters in his life. He’s not the most political of comedians, but he can touch on that if need be.
We also figure that he will be down to do some sillier stuff, largely because he typically is on the show. Out of the people who tend to come on this show with a certain past persona, he does have a tendency to be the most malleable. He’s willing to embarrass himself, just as he’s also willing to engage in some physical comedy. Many of his best scenes in prior outings were with Kate McKinnon, though there could be potential for so much more here.
Given that Alec Baldwin is at present both promoting The Boss Baby and his new memoir Nevertheless, we do have a feeling that we’ll be seeing Donald Trump at some point. There are only two shows in the month of April, so it does make some sense to try to take advantage of this opportunity.
