Once Upon a Time season 6 episode 16 spoilers: The Black Fairy and Gideon

Black Fairy

Once Upon a Time season 6 episode 16 is airing on ABC Sunday night, and there are a number of important things worth noting about — but few are as critical as the story of the Black Fairy. She is the central villain seemingly of the second part of this season, given that she is the one responsible for sending Gideon to Storybrooke to kill Emma Swan in the first place. She’s the one who gave her grandson such a tough life, and put him in an almost-impossible position to grow up with any shred of normalcy.

Earlier today, ABC released the full synopsis below to go along with the promo, which makes it clear what Hook is going to be willing to do in order to ensure that he makes it back to Storybrooke to be with Emma — to go along with everything that we mentioned already with the Black Fairy, of course. Take a look below:

“Gold and Belle convince Emma to help Gideon, explaining that together they can stop the Black Fairy. Henry experiences a disorienting shift in his powers that forces Regina to seek counsel from the previous Author. Meanwhile, in Fairy Tale Land, Hook attempts to win the assistance of an old adversary by betting his most prized possession on a game of cards. And, in a flashback, the Black Fairy tortures young Gideon in hopes of molding him into the perfect apprentice.”

All of this sounds exciting, especially when it comes to whatever is going to be coming up for Henry. We knew that we would be seeing the most-recent Author return at some point this season, and this appears to be that opportunity. We’re going to see Henry potentially on an interesting arc this week that could take him through the end of the season — though honestly, we’re going to be happy to see any arc at all with Henry, given that the kid’s been fairly under-utilized for the majority of the season and we want to see if that changes.
