Big Little Lies season 2: Reese Witherspoon explains how it could happen
There are of course a flurry of interviews that are out there at the moment about the show, and one that Reese Witherspoon did on Facebook Live made it clear that there could actually be some hope for a season 2 coming up in the future. However, she said (per InStyle) that it would be dependent on writer Liane Moriarty coming up with another story for the show to adapt:
“One of the main questions everyone keeps asking us is is there going to be a season two … We’ve been talking with the writer, and you guys should Facebook Liane Moriarty and tell her how much you want to see Big Little Lies 2. That would be good. She’s thinking about ideas, and so we would love to hear ideas.”
Basically, were another book to come out we could envision a second season of the show coming in maybe three or four years down the road. Let’s hope that you are the patient type! Then again, it’s not like taking huge breaks between seasons is something that is that unusual these days. You just have to remember for a moment or two year that there are some other shows like Sherlock that come out every couple of years, and Westworld could be off the air for as long as two years before its second season premieres depending on when production gets underway.
If your show is great, there will be viewers who manage to find a way to watch it again. You often don’t forget about quality, which is why it’s interesting that there are people who complain sometimes about a long layoff. The only shows that tend to be hurt by this severely are the ones that were never that good in the first place. The only other special case you can make are shows watched by people who are convinced that if they watch it on Netflix, it’s just as good as watching it live and actually supporting a show in terms of watching advertisements. Thankfully, HBO doesn’t have to deal with that issue nearly as much.
