Blue Bloods season 7: Donnie Wahlberg, cast talk 150 episodes (video)

Blue Bloods season 7

Come Friday night, Blue Bloods will be airing an episode on CBS that is ultimately like no other. You only get to celebrate the 150th episode of the show once!

With that, we’ve got a video that offers up a chance to get some insight from the cast as to why they enjoy making this show, and some of what they still get out of still doing the show. For someone like Tom Selleck, it’s a chance to celebrate the fact that he has a show closing in on Magnum P.I., a show that helped to make him into a household name. For Donnie Wahlberg, it’s a chance to celebrate his character Danny, a guy who is incredibly compelling to watch even if he is a “pain in the neck” at times, to use Donnie’s own words. Danny and Frank are two of the foundation components of the show, but they’re far from the only ones! Throw in here characters like Linda, Erin, Henry, the children, and Jamie who have been here since the early days, and you’ve got a number of fantastic people who make the show great week in and week out. (Vanessa Ray joined the series midway through as Eddie, but she’s been fantastic ever since.)

So could we get 150 more episodes? With a show like this, anything is possible. It stays incredibly consistent in the ratings despite airing at a difficult time on Friday nights, and it also does so without a huge amount of publicity. CBS recently renewed the show for an eighth season, and we don’t get any sign that the series is going to be ending anytime soon. Maybe this is a show that could last as long as the people involved want it to last — if that’s the case, it really is an actor and producer’s dream since you get to go out on your own terms.

Congratulations, Blue Bloods — we’ve enjoyed the opportunity to cover the show in particular the past few years, and are certainly excited to see where things go from here.
