Bones series finale: Show boss on 447 mystery, one last time
Maybe there are some out there who wanted it to have a bit more of a tangible meaning, but let’s face it — how would that happen? It’s almost the Bones version of the Lost numbers, something that happens to show up in different forms over time. It’s with this in mind that we present you with a new quote via co-showrunner Michael Peterson to TVLine on the subject:
“The way ‘447’ worked for us was in more of a supernatural way — a harbinger or omen, signaling a redefining moment for Booth and Brennan. It’s just something that has been there all along that has been building to this moment of saying, ‘Booth and Brennan, you’re life is going to change one more time.'”
In the end, there are a few supernatural elements that do exist within the Bones universe — remember the Sleepy Hollow universe? That’s probably one of those things that will be forever remembered as one of the stranger decisions that was made in the context of the show, but we’re still not going to deny that we enjoyed it immensely. With that, we also enjoyed the Bones series finale. The 447 mystery was simply a nice way to tie everything full-circle, to remind you of the past while also planning for the characters’ future.
Oh, and we should also mention that there was very much an ending that could open the door for a potential Bones season 13. We’re not holding our breath on that, but you never know, right? This is one of those things that you can give a never-say-never response to just because in the world of TV, almost anything can happen. For the record, we’ve got a separate article right now all about the thirteenth season of the show, and some of the various elements that could go into play with that.
