Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman team for The Handmade Project NBC series

The Handmade Project

Ready to see Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman back together? They were delightful on Parks and Recreation, and we’re thrilled to learn that they’re going to be back together soon — and on NBC once more, no less.

According to Deadline, the network’s offered up a six-episode order to The Handmade Project, a competition show that celebrates people who are able to build things using few tools and a ton of ingenuity. It’s about reviving some old crafts, and show off original work. Given that Offerman is pretty much a master woodworker at this point, it makes sense for him to have this show. Meanwhile, the site notes that Poehler is a “novice” who has a deep appreciation for people with this skill. The two are set to co-host the project, and there will be eight episodes as a whole

In a statement, Poehler had the following to say:

“I’m thrilled to be celebrating artists who make things by hand, and I’m looking forward to finally conquering my fear of paper mache.”

Meanwhile, Offerman added the following:

“People who make things are my favorite kind of folk. Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch. That makes me tickled pink to have a front row seat at this prodigious display of talent, and admiring and cheering on an amazing crop of American makers. Plus, Amy and I have a strong tradition of tomfoolery so let’s see if we don’t have some good fun.”

Count us all-in on this show. We love reality competitions for one, but this is a space that hasn’t been properly covered to date. Also, the presence of the two hosts is well worth the price of admission given that they have great chemistry and are incredibly funny already. This sort of talent could convince some casual reality TV fans to get back on board with the genre in a way that they haven’t been in a long time.

Unfortunately, there’s no specific premiere date for the project yet. Once there is some further news to report on that subject, we’ll have it for you here.

For now, let us know what you think about the idea for The Handmade Project, and the idea of Poehler and Offerman hosting together again, in the comments! (Photo: NBC.)
