Survivor: Game Changers episode 5 sneak peek: Rewards and concerns
The big takeaway that we have from this sneak peek aside from the introduction to the challenge is Ozzy’s reaction to seeing Malcolm out of the challenge. He plays it cool, but there’s probably a part of him that is screaming in the back of his head. With Malcolm out of the game, a great challenge performer and huge threat is gone. The more threats go, the more Ozzy stands out, and he’s now lost three big male threats in a row. (Sure, Caleb’s not known as a strategist, but he is a strong physical player like Ozzy is.) If someone else in this vein is gone, Ozzy could be screwed after the merge.
On the flip side, maybe it makes Ozzy more likely to win all of the challenges down the road … but the odds of him going on an undefeated streak after the merge are slim to none. Even Mike Holloway lost a couple of challenges here and there.
What we’re the most curious about here is the state of JT, which is not covered at all in this preview. His actions at the last Tribal Council screwed over Malcolm, and now screw over his place in the tribe. If we were the new Nuku, we’d strongly consider throwing the challenge just to ensure he goes home. The only thing that he can really do at this point is either scramble and find an immunity idol, or desperately try to find someone in this group who will understand that they need to win a challenge or two. He can argue that if they really want to get rid of threats, Sandra is the biggest threat that is out there in the game. In the end, he should just focus first and foremost and what he can control, and that is trying to win every challenge. Even if Nuku tries to throw something, maybe they’ll get a challenge that he’s really good at and they can’t throw all that easily. They wouldn’t want to make a throw too obvious, since that could lead to them being perceived as cocky and targeted by people later.
