What is Abby Sciuto’s impact on fans? NCIS forensic scientist has women thinking about science
There is something really special about Abby’s approach to solving crimes. She isn’t your typical geek stereotype character as seen on other TV shows. In fact, she showcases her own style while still doing an exceptional job that isn’t your typical female career choice.
Abby’s dedication to the job, her loyalty to her coworkers and her commitment to the science has truly made an impact over the years. She might be just a character on NCIS, yet, she shows how young, successful women take part in science.
Pauley Perrette’s portrayal of Abby Sciuto has gotten fans to think about the possibilities of becoming a scientist. Most importantly, she has impacted young women looking for careers. They have seen the show and considered the field of science, including criminal science to solve crimes, as a profession. This type of role model isn’t seen that often on modern drama shows.
Abby Sciuto is a cool scientist
Abby truly relates to fans in almost every episode. She could be invited to anyone’s Thanksgiving in a heartbeat. Loving and kind, Abby wants to make the world a better place. She takes her love of science to a whole new level. Excited after she finds clues to help solve crimes and willing to think outside the box, she isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. She is the master of all her electronic gear in her lab making the most impressive finds with just a speck of dirt or a dot of oil.
The other day I was chatting with some high school students who were talking about their future and one of the young ladies was interested in being a forensic scientist. When I asked her what piqued her interest, she mentioned Abby Sciuto’s name. Who knew such a passionate character on NCIS could actually impact the lives of young people in such a wonderful way! Just another way NCIS is impacting our lives!
