Big Little Lies episode 7 (finale) spoilers: ‘You Get What You Need’

Next week, HBO will be airing Big Little Lies episode 7 — otherwise known as their big finale! Unfortunately, this is mostly everything that is known about it at the moment.

At this point in prior weeks, we had something tangible to go on in the form of an official synopsis from the network. They often release these more than a week in advance of a new episode airing, but that is not something that they’ve done in this instance. One of the reasons for that could just be that they often release their synopses by the month, and we’ve reached the end of this current month. Maybe they’ll give us something more on Big Little Lies episode 7 over the course of the coming days. (We will have a promo for the episode following it airing on HBO.)

For those who have read the book, at least you can enter this episode with a certain familiarity. You’re aware of what the show is building towards, and how everything could spiral out as characters face the aftermath of their decisions.

Promo – Here’s something a little more of substance, as we’re at the tipping point for Madeline, Celeste, and others. Questions are raised regarding motivation and how much is too much. Meanwhile, there are surprises and examples of great heartache. There’s a wonderful juxtaposition that this show plays up between chaos and normalcy, the beauty of the scenery versus the darkness underneath. It’s what life should be as opposed to what it is, and these are some of the big driving forces of the series.

In watching this, we do wish that this show ran longer than seven episodes. We’ve just started to inhabit this world and there are far greater stories out there to tell. Alas, there may not be opportunities to do so.

Is there something coming beyond the finale? That is something that we’ve already written about, but for now most indications seem to be that this is a limited series event. It’s likely that HBO works with many of these actors again, but in a different capacity than this time around.
