Arrow season 5 episode 22 title: The Bruce Springsteen parade continues

Bruce Springsteen

One of the more random (but interesting) Arrow traditions that has unfolded over the years is the show’s trend of naming their penultimate episodes after song titles from the Bruce Springsteen catalog. In season 1, it was “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” whereas in season 2 we had “Streets of Fire,” arguably the best of any of these episodes. Season 3 gave us “This Is Your Sword,” whereas season 4 offered up “Lost in the Flood.”

Most of these Springsteen titles have been somewhat specific, and references that you can somewhat visualize in your head. Season 5’s, meanwhile, is a little bit more of the abstract variety. According to a new report coming in from ComicBook.com, the title for the upcoming episode on this occasion is “Missing.” That doesn’t exactly give a whole lot away, but we do know that it’s a fairly obscure Springsteen track and the name was obviously chosen for a reason.

Is this a time in which Oliver Queen goes missing from the rest of the group? It’s possible, since he wants almost nothing more at the moment than getting away from it all. Judging from the events of this past episode, you can argue now that Prometheus already won. He broke Oliver down, and got him to admit to the fact that he killed out of enjoyment. He convinced Oliver to no longer be the Green Arrow, which seemed to be his goal along rather than straight-up killing him. The next episode is entitled “Disbanded” for a reason, and maybe this story persists and the remainder of the team has to figure out a way to bring Oliver back from whatever ledge that he is currently on.

Of course, it’s possible that “Missing” could be a reference to missing ideals, missing dreams, or even another character. When you’re still several episodes away from an installment airing, it’s still a little too early to know one way or another what an episode name is talking about. All we know is that if this season continues at its current level of quality, we’ll be falling over to see this story by the time in which it airs.
