Longmire season 6: When will filming end?
Even though Longmire season 6 may not be premiering on Netflix until the fall, we are back now to answer yet another question in regards to the series’ production schedule: Just how long it will be filming.
Per a report from the Albuquerque Journal, the Netflix series (which sets up a home base in Santa Fe while traveling around to some other communities + out in the country) will be filming until around the middle of June. That’s close to a three-month window, which is a pretty tight schedule for a show that has ten episodes to film. In many ways, that was probably what was so attractive about doing this series in the first place for some of the people involved. For the cast, they had an ability to come on the show, work, and then go off and do other things. For example, we’ve seen Robert Taylor recently on the big screen, Katee Sackhoff’s been working overseas, and Adam Bartley is coming off of a big arc over on NBC’s This Is Us. All of the various cast members have been busy tackling some other projects, and they were able to thanks to this schedule.
If many of them opt to find full-time jobs on other series, we have to imagine that the schedule is going to be a little bit longer for filming. If you think about most network shows, they often run from July until April, which is an incredibly long time to be working on a single project. Sure, you do have more episodes and therefore more pay, but it’s a long time to occupy yourself working on a single thing.
The joy of Longmire comes via the flexibility it offers, and the family that you get on set with the rest of the cast. When you are filming away from home, there is a sense of camaraderie that forms with you and the other cast and crew members. This is likely something that these people all feel — it’s something that they’ll cherish and take with them no matter where their careers go from here. We’re sure that all of them will be able to land other jobs without a problem.
