Real Housewives of Atlanta: The divorce party disaster
Here’s the deal — both Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey recently were divorced, and they’re going through a lot as a result of that. Therefore, Kenya Moore took it upon herself to, for whatever reason, transform their divorce into a bachelorette party complete with some of the stuff that you tend to see. Phaedra wanted NONE OF IT, and understandably so. Divorce is one of the most devastating things you go through in your life. Even if you were really unhappy at the time of the split, it’s the end of an era, and the departure of a family. It’s the conclusion of something that you, at one point, probably had a whole lot of hope for in terms of it being a beacon of hope for your life. It’s the sort of thing that everyone of course wants to move on from, but it’s not easy. Typically, you want to crawl into a corner and not throw a party over it.
Did Kenya mean well in her efforts? It’s possible, since she did have a solid relationship going with Phaedra even in spite of all of the Apollo-related water under the bridge. Maybe she was just oblivious as to her feelings, or maybe she got some bad advice somewhere out there. There are, after all, so many things that can be done at times in the name of “good TV,” and not all of them are good.
In contrast to the “divorce party,” Peter Thomas actually was front and center for a pretty fun story courtesy of his birthday party, themed around a roast. This was ridiculous. It was also funny, but ridiculous nonetheless. We’re with Peter, though, that other than one particularly good zinger fired off towards Porsha, this was one that was pretty tame.
