Legion renewed for season 2 by FX; Dan Stevens series showing strong DVR gains
Consider this one of the least-surprising news items of the year so far — Legion is renewed for a season 2 over at FX. This is a show that is performing well in terms of live+same day numbers, but it’s also absolutely killing it when it comes to the DVR figures that are already out there. It’s consistently posting gains of over 100%, and it could have a great streaming life after the fact, as well.
Basically, it’s clear that FX is going to be interested in giving you a whole lot more of Dan Stevens and the remainder of the cast for some time.
In a statement, Eric Schrier, the President of Original Programming for FX, had the following to say:
“The first season of Legion was a stunning achievement … More than a new series, Legion is a wholly original take on the super hero genre. Our thanks to Noah Hawley for taking the creative risks and shattering expectations. It’s a privilege to work again with Noah, his producing partners, the outstanding cast and our partners at Marvel Television on another season of Legion.”
So far Legion season 1 has won a great deal of support from critics for not only its portrayal of mental disorders, but also their perception of the outside world. It’s a beautifully-shot series that doesn’t feel like anything else; it almost does for the whole superhero genre what Mr. Robot did for character-based drama. The more you watch the show, and the more eager that you probably become to see how the producers are going to switch and morph things around.
One of the biggest question marks that we’ve got at present is when a Legion season 2 could be coming back on the air, given that Hawley is an incredibly busy guy. In addition to being the creative force behind this show, he’s also got something entirely different in Fargo, which is also premiering later this spring for its third season. Once there’s further news on that, we will be sure to let you know.
For the time being, what do you think about the Legion renewal? Be sure to share your thoughts with a comment!
