Susan Sarandon goes from Feud: Bette & Joan to Ray Donovan season 5
This is certainly turning out to be the year of Susan Sarandon, isn’t it? We’re now two episodes into Feud: Bette & Joan, and we do have to say that this is nothing short of sensational.
Now, there’s some other certainly-great news out there for the actress courtesy of another new role on Showtime’s Ray Donovan! The network announced on Monday that Sarandon is going to be appearing throughout the upcoming fifth season of the show in the role of Samantha Winslow. She’s the head of a prominent movie studio, and that’s certainly ironic given what we’re getting a chance to see from her as Bette Davis.
As for how she can do both shows, the simple answer there is that Feud already finished filming. It’s now airing, and she can focus entirely on the Showtime drama, which absolutely has a knack for getting some big-name guest stars. Previously, we’ve seen a big arc for Hank Azaria on the series, and we’ve also recently seen a lengthy appearance from Katie Holmes. Given that Ray Donovan does continue to get all sorts of awards recognition, in particular for Jon Voight, it’s fairly easy to figure out precisely why Susan Sarandon would want to get on board before the premiere this summer.
For the time being, though, both Sarandon and Showtime have some other priorities. The majority of the Feud: Bette & Joan run is still to come on the network, and in addition to that, we’re going to also have a chance to see more of Homeland and Billions as a part of their Sunday-night lineup. These two networks in particular are likely to draw a great deal of awards-show recognition as we get closer to the time of nominations this summer. We’d wager that Sarandon in particular is almost a lock.
