Chicago Fire season 5 spoilers: Severide’s father returns
So what do we know about Severide’s father turning things up this time? Well, mostly that he will be arriving without much of a warning that he’s coming, and that this is something that the character has to really brace himself for. Things have been going so well for him, too! Remember for a minute here that his relationship with Anna’s been gradually improving, especially with her making the decision to come up to Chicago rather than stay in Springfield.
So what else is going to be happening in this episode? We can tell you that Dawson and Brett are going to be assigned a new trainee played by Will Kiley, and let’s just say that he is going to figure out a way in which to surprise the two of them while out on a call. As if Dawson hasn’t been through enough so far this season, right? It just seems to be something that she cannot escape from no matter how hard she tries.
Meanwhile, you’re also going to see Herrmann have a little bit of family trouble, as well, in this episode — his son is going to get into some trouble at school, so get ready for the disciplinarian side of the character that we haven’t quite seen before.

We also know that there are going to be some other stories coming that are focused more around Severide and Anna, and it’s fair to expect another crossover or two by the end of the season. We’re not sure that there will be anything close to something as epic as what we saw earlier this year with the kick-off to Chicago Justice, but we also know that you never quite know for certain.
