Black Sails season 4 episode 8 spoilers: Flint, Silver at odds (promo)

Black Sails season 4 episode 8 is coming your way in one week’s time, and there are going to be many issues at its core. For example, we’re going to see precisely what happens when everyone is both stretched too thin and also grasping at straws.

The big surprise (or was it a surprise at all?) was learning tonight that it just so turned out that Madi was in fact alive, so the whole conversation regarding around her death was more or less that: Conversation. This means that Silver may act further with her in mind, and this may throw a deeper wedge between him and some other members of his crew. The Flint / Silver dynamic is essential to the series, but it’s become clear over the past year or so that he is not the same man that he once was. he’s broken-up, struggling, and trying to determine what the right course of action for him and his life could be as we move forward into the future.

Synopsis – “A rescue plan threatens to divide Flint and Silver; the true price of freedom becomes apparent to Max; Rackham seeks his prey; the Walrus enters uncharted territory.”

Within these final episodes, there are a lot of different stories that could play out thematically, but one of the biggest ones is simply a matter of trying to determine exactly how the pieces are going to fall, and what the final tone of this show ends up being. Are we meant to view Black Sails as a show about greed, or as a show that is all about the corrupting presence of imperialism? Or, are we meant to view this as some sort of celebration of pirate life, odd as that may be given the nature of some of these characters’ actions? There is a certain amount of this that will probably depend heavily on the perspective of those choosing to watch the show, largely because of the fact that there are some who may choose to live more vicariously through some of these characters than others.
