NCIS Los Angeles season 8 episode 17 sneak peek: Sam’s fake fight

In the NCIS Los Angeles season 8, episode 17 sneak peek below, you’ve got a chance to further see just how far Sam is willing to go in order to ensure that justice is served on his latest case — and how far he’s willing to plan ahead in the process.

As the video makes it clear, LL Cool J’s going undercover in the role of Switch, right-hand man to a contact who’s having to explain to his “bosses” what happened with a deal gone south. In the midst of the explanation, “Switch” goes rogue and pushes his so-called friend into the water, potentially to certain death. The twist? All of this seemed to be planned! It was a well-executed fake fight, and a funny one seemingly designed for the purpose of better getting some leverage. Does it work? Judging from the fact that he’s got a gun pointed on him during the closing minutes, that does certainly seem to be a situation up for debate — and one that we unfortunately don’t have much of an answer to at the moment.

Still, you gotta consider this preview to be a rather nice example further of everything Sam does right on the job, and how he may very well be one of the greatest undercover guys out there. He’s never afraid of taking on a challenge, or putting himself in harm’s way … and he is really doing that here and then some. He’s taking a big risk not just for him, but with someone else. Luckily, the guy somehow got fake fight training in addition to all of the regular fight training he’s acquired over the years.

Bonus sneak peek

Just in case you especially enjoy scenes that set up the case for the episode featuring Beale and Nell back at headquarters, this one is for you since we get a better sense in here as to what’s going on in the episode … to a certain extent. Nobody really touches in here very much on the fact that Anna and Callen are going to be working together on their own case in the episode, one that started off with a romantic evening gone awry. (Consider this a further reminder that within this show, there aren’t many opportunities for people to have peace and to enjoy one another’s company.)
