The Amazing Race 29 premiere date moved up to March 30

The Amazing Race 24 premiere date -

For those of you excited for The Amazing Race 29, it’s racing towards a brand-new premiere date on CBS.

Today, the network announced that following their (controversial) decision to move Training Day to Saturdays starting in April after the series, starring the late Bill Paxton, showed some ratings fatigue, the new The Amazing Race 29 premiere date will be Thursday, March 30 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Why that late in the month? Well, a big reason for it at the moment is simply a matter of the NCAA Tournament coming on the air.

As for how we feel about the premiere date being so late, let’s just say that the results here are mixed. One of the good things that comes along with the date is that it means we’re going to have a chance to see the show airing on a night when there are more people watching. Friday was always a rough night for the show, especially given that its audience is young and likely off doing other things over the weekend. Not everyone wants to stay home watching TV!

However, on the flip side of this, airing in this timeslot means that the show could be losing valuable family viewers who go to bed a little earlier than this. It isn’t the first time that the show aired at 10:00, but we do think on this occasion it’s a little bit of an advantage, especially when it comes to tone and continuity. The show is following up a lineup of comedies here, so hopefully some of those people will stick around for some other lighthearted content.

Also, here’s to hoping that the show releases the official cast soon, given that it’s been a very long time coming in that department. There are already extensive rumors out there about the season 29 theme, but this is not something that we like to discuss here at CarterMatt before CBS makes it official.

While the Race hasn’t truly been amazing for a few seasons now, we’ve got a soft spot for it as one of our favorite reality shows for a rather long time. Therefore, we’re thrilled that it’s back, and are looking forward to seeing precisely what is coming up with it down the line. You can read more of our Amazing Race coverage now over here.
