House of Cards – Sean Spicer trolling produces internet gold over flag pin
Specifically today, we’re talking about the fact that Sean Spicer had his American flag pin on upside-down in the latest press briefing, which quickly became a meme on Twitter and also immediately makes us want to get Melissa McCarthy back on Saturday Night Live in order to ask him about it at length. There were certainly questions out there about if he was compromised (jokingly, of course), and a reporter even asked him if he was okay as though this was a secret distress call. (For the record, Mr. Spicey seems to be just fine, at least in comparison to how he usually is.) There are regulations and rules out there that say that the American flag should only be upside down in moments of distress.
Spicer, for the record, did eventually fix the pin.
You can see a picture of it below via Kyle Griffin on Twitter, and then a brilliant bit of trolling on the part of the show. It’s a nice bit of extra publicity for the show’s premiere in May, and for Spicer, we figure that it’s something that he will probably check obsessively for however long he continues to be Press Secretary. After all, this is the internet age, and the majority of the people who are on the internet are in turn rather bored. They’re ready to jump on any and all nonsense the second that they first catch wind of it, and of course that includes such trivial things like a flag pin.
In our mind, we do still like to envision Spicer watchin House of Cards later this year, even if he doesn’t. He’ll watch it. He’ll enjoy it. PERIOD. (Or, maybe this is all too close to reality at this point and he goes home and watches screwball comedies or old Ronald Reagan movies. Hard to say.)
