The 100 renewed for season 5 by The CW
While there are some details about season 5, including the episode count, that are not entirely clear just yet, it is still nice to know that the show is coming back long before we get around to the finale. There is such a thing, after all, as renewal news causing a distraction, and you don’t want to be in a position where you are spending so much time debating over whether or not you’re going to see a show come back for more that it becomes a distraction to everything else that is going on across the board.
Now, we just have to wait and see precisely how this season ends, and what sort of cliffhanger it’s left on. That will get us to the point where we can be excited about The 100 coming back again.
If there is one thing that we would ask of The CW looking into the future, it’s that they figure out precisely what the end date for the show should be long before they get close to it. This is a series that fans have invested so much into in terms of time, energy, and passion; as a result of that, they also have to figure out a way to pay tribute to these people in terms of how they end the show, and how they give them something that they can look back on fondly and with a smile on their faces. Maybe there are another couple of seasons left, but this is something that will probably come down to executive producer Jason Rothenberg and the writers for the show in the end.
Once there is some further news on the future of the show, we’ll let you know — the irony with the timing of this announcement is simply that it’s coming mere days after we posted a lengthy article discussing this in our own way. The ratings are down, but they’re good enough still to not cause concern.
