Game of Thrones season 7 premiere date live stream crashes before reveal

Game of Thrones season 7 premiere date -

For all of those wanting to know the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere date, the show tried to come up with something very experiment and interesting today — giving fans a chance to actually see the big date be revealed in a big block of ice!

However, that didn’t go according to plan. At one point during the broadcast (which was about twenty or so minutes in), the live stream on Facebook crashed right when the fire was really starting to hit that said block of ice. Consider this a slightly-botched experiment, but Game of Thrones has some experience with streams crashing given that HBO NOW crashed several different times since its inception during premieres, simply due to a lack of volume. It’s possible that this is also what happened here. This is one of the biggest shows on TV, and at one point there were over 100,000 people watching a giant block of ice melt for everyone to see.

Ultimately, we’re starting to wonder if for season 8, Game of Thrones will reveal their premiere date by letting a magic type of paint dry.

We do think that the idea for this is in itself brilliant, mostly because we’ve now evolved to being in a sort of culture where there is this sort of incredible eagerness to watch what are effectively reveals of reveals. Typically, the announcement of a premiere date is not worth fanfare, but this is an era where you’ve got teasers being released for other teasers, and parties to celebrate trailers. It’s all been hyped to such ridiculous levels now.

The official premiere date

July 16. This was revealed at the very end of the stream, so for many people, we hope that it was worth the wait. There are seven episodes that will air over the course of the summer, and they are going to feature potentially one of the biggest wars that we’re going to see on the show to date.

So when are we going to get an official trailer? Hopefully, it’s going to be at some point over the next couple of months, maybe around the time The Leftovers premieres in April.

Other Game of Thrones news

If you missed it, yesterday we shared the first Game of Thrones season 7 poster, which had a very similar theme to it. Hopefully, we’re going to have some other news when it comes to the show soon.

Of course, we want to get your thoughts on the story in the comments! (Photo: HBO.)
