Dancing with the Stars 24 spoitlight: Are Erika Jayne and Gleb Savchenko a sleeper team?

Looking ahead to Dancing with the Stars season 24, it’s going to be very easy to assume that the two dominant teams will be Heather Morris / Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Simone Biles / Sasha Farber. However, we’re here to tell you not to rule out Erika Jayne and Gleb Savchenko, either. There’s a good understanding of music and dance here with Erika, she’s got a fun personality, and she seems like the perfect person who will make audience members want to get up and dance, even if they’re not altogether familiar with who she is or what she brings to the table.

Claim to fame – EDM / dance recording artist, and easily the most fascinating cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Her real name is Erika Girardi; her stage name is Erika Jayne and if you haven’t had a chance to check out some of her music, you really should.

Partner – Gleb Savchenko. Gleb is actually fairly familiar with the Bravo reality series, having danced his first season with Lisa Vanderpump. Last season, he made it all the way to the finale with Jana Kramer, and the two delivered several memorable dances.

Strengths – Having a knowledge of music and performance is really important in helping with the initial learning curve; while ballroom dance is very different than anything Erika’s done before, she knows what it’s like to go on stage and try to win the crowd over. She has a natural skill in this field, and it also helps that she’s got a dedicated voting base of RHOBH fans right out of the gate this season as well as her music fans.

Weaknesses – We have all of the confidence in the world that Erika will be a good dancer and do great routines on the show. The concern comes in winning over some fans who either don’t watch reality TV or have an unfavorable feeling about the Real Housewives franchise. Lisa didn’t last very long on her season, and NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak failed to make it to the finale. (Kim had some medical issues, but she wasn’t scoring well even before that.) She will really need to play up her personality right away and make people see that they can rally behind her.

Prediction – Erika’s one of our favorite Real Housewives stars just because she focuses more on the fun and her own life than some of the silly drama. She’s going to be better than some people expect this season. The big test for her will be seeing if she can convince some casual fans to rally behind her; if she can, she could be a sleeper threat to make it very far into the season.
