Survivor: Game Changers episode 1 review (part 1): Who was first voted off?
The first thing that we got to say is that we love Tony Vlachos. Seriously. The man is absolutely gold. You never think that some of his moves are going to work, but then they do and he somehow manages to win the game. Just within the first thirty minutes of the episode we saw him screaming while running around, and then also him trying to build a “spy bunker” that really just looked like he was digging his own grave … possibly in more ways than one. Troyzan saw this, and then it became apparent that it looked like he was looking for an idol.
Here is where things started to turn around in his favor: Ciera really started beating the drum hard to get rid of him, but Malcolm in particular didn’t want to do that. He wanted to keep the huge threats around, and there are few threats that are as big as he is. He’s almost so big a target that he’s an obvious asset.
While all of this was going on with the Mana (red) tribe, over on the Nuku (blue) tribe we had a chance to see the beginnings of a cold war between Cirie and Ozzy … one that was probably more unfortunate for Cirie than anyone. The big thing that you have to remember here is that Ozzy is useful earlier in the game. Cirie’s a threat throughout the ENTIRE game.
The good news for now is that one of these tribes was spared thanks to an immunity win — that tribe was Nuku! This means that if there is a battle brewing between Cirie and Ozzy, it will wait for one more week. For Tony, he’s suddenly in trouble one episode into the game.
The first Tribal Council scramble
At first glance, it looked as though this was going to be a fairly easy vote given the fact that everyone was fine to get Ciera out of the game. After all, she was a schemer, and not what the tribe was looking to keep at this point in the season. Despite Tony’s insanity, he’s still reasonably valuable.
Then, Michaela flipped out when she was told that Ciera was going to be voting for her to go home. That, in turn, caused everyone else to freak out. She become a potential target, and it eventually turned out to be one of the two women who would be going home. It didn’t seem like anyone else was really in any danger.
Who was the first voted off Survivor?
Ciera! This was certainly a surprise. She is a very good player, but she encouraged people to play the game probably too much. We’re going to miss her, but the bigger bummer here is that the first part of this premiere ended on a rather predictable note. Still, TONY. That helps everything out.
We have an exit interview online with Ciera now, which you can see over at this link.
