What are The 100 season 5 renewal odds at present?
Given that we’re right in the thick the fourth season as of right now, it certainly feels like the perfect time to ask the question: What are The 100 season 5 renewal odds? Are we going to have a chance to see another series of adventures in this world?
So far, what we know is that the ratings have been, for the most part, fairly steady. We’ve seen the show average around a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and to go along with that, just over 1.05 million viewers. These ratings are okay for The CW, but they’re far from great and are really only ahead of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin in terms of shows that have been renewed. They are a little more close to even when it comes to Riverdale, which was just handed a season 2 earlier today.
The real area of concern when it comes to The 100 may be in looking at the year-to-year comparisons. For the time being, the show is down around 20% from where it was during the intense-and-controversial third season, where it drew a lot of headlines — though not all of them positive. Year-to-year declines are pretty natural, but losing more than 10% in the demo is a cause for some concern; meanwhile, losing more than 15% is even more worrisome, especially when your ratings were not all that great to begin with.
If we had to issue a verdict right now based on the information that is out there, we will say that the show does end up getting renewed for a fifth season, even if it is a final one. This is a show that does still generate a great deal of social traffic and attention, and given that this is one of the darkest, most-serialized shows that The CW has ever done over the years, they do owe it to the fans to come up with some sort of proper conclusion. This is a network that, other than maybe 90210, has done a pretty good job allowing shows to go out with their head held high. We do think that they’re going to want the same thing here.
