Outlander season 3 notes: Sophie Skelton, Tobias Menzies, Rosie Day, and other celebrations

In today’s edition of our Outlander notes series, we’re having a little bit of a celebration! Or, to be even more precise, this is a chance for a quick little birthday celebration for many different people who are deeply involved in the series.

Let’s start with Sophie Skelton, given that she is pictured above and is currently in the midst of getting a lot of love from the entire cast, crew, and fandom on social media. What we have a chance to be excited about with her is an opportunity to see a whole lot more of her story play out on the series moving forward. For now, her appearances have been limited to the season 2 finale Dragonfly in Amber, but she wasn’t introduced to that story as a one-off. Any longtime fan of the show knows that there are many great things to come.

Hopefully, some of that for Skelton’s Brianna will be apparent in an upcoming season 3 teaser or trailer, whenever that is. We’re still going to keep our eyes and ears peeled for something on that front.

One thing that is somewhat fun and random about this show is that there are two very iconic people in it who are celebrating a birthday on the same exact day! In addition to Skelton, you also have (as she mentioned) Tobias Menzies who is celebrating today. While he may play one of the most vile men in recent TV history in Black Jack Randall, the fact that he is so loathsome is a testament to everything that Tobias does. We also cannot forget about Frank Randall, either, another man who has been an essential part of Claire’s life. We’ll see how much of their life and marriage together is explored in season 3.

We do want to also give a little bit of belated birthday love to one Rosie Day, who plays Mary Hawkins on the show. She celebrated her big day yesterday!

One thing that we do want to share from a few days back, just in case you didn’t get a chance to see it then, was a fun video featuring many of the cast members in between Skelton, Menzies, Richard Rankin, and César Domboy playing a game of This Or That with Leanne Aguilera from Entertainment Tonight. it’s great for a few laughs, and it’s a chance to shine a light of a few other people from across the show universe.
