Donald Trump – Arnold Schwarzenegger Celebrity Apprentice feud returns
One day after his announced departure from The Celebrity Apprentice, the Donald Trump – Arnold Schwarzenegger feud is back on. (Can this be the subject matter for Feud season 2 on FX if the ratings turn out to be great for that show?)
Here’s a quick recap of what happened. The former California Governor made it clear that he wouldn’t be interested in doing another season of the show, citing the “baggage” that came following Donald Trump being on the show for so many years. The President is still listed as an executive producer, and this created a wide array of different problems. For one, there were viewers who didn’t watch out of protest, and there were Trump supporters who didn’t watch because he seemingly didn’t want them to. There was also a lengthy hiatus between seasons and that didn’t help, but this is one of those few vitriolic situations where we think that there is a correlation between people threatening to not watch and then said people actually following through on some of their threats.
Anyhow, Trump of course didn’t take kindly to the idea that he was a factor in the show’s failures, claiming that he is “was fired by his bad ratings.” this tweet also of course demonstrates further one of Trump’s strangest trends as of late, which is providing a synonym in parentheses in the event that it wasn’t clear enough in the first place.
Oh, and of course Trump used one of his other favorite words in “sad” to talk about the show’s legacy.
Meanwhile, Arnold came back at him with a wallop of a response, making it clear that the President doesn’t have any idea what he is talking about in this case.
Do we think that this is actually the end of the line for the franchise? Probably, unless NBC finds a way to buy Trump out of his stake in the show and can remove him from the credits. Even still, though the Apprentice brand is synonymous with him. Structurally, it’s a great show with potential for a lot of fun. It’s unfortunate that at this point, so much of it is tied to someone so controversial, and someone who in the later years had little to nothing to do with its actual success. Trump’s role mostly consisted of him sitting there and firing people at times for very arbitrary reasons.
