The Voice Blind Auditions: Ashley Levin performs ‘Let It Fly’
The first auditioner right out of the gate was a young woman in Ashley Levin who, by her own admission, had a “huge weight on her shoulders” in trying out. She and her family had a difficult time helping their father after he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. For the show itself, she chose to perform a really good song in “Let It Fly” that allowed her to show a little bit of soul and country at the same time. She could be one of those musical chameleons on the show that could do a wide array of different things depending on her coach.
In the end, she got turns from every coach other than Adam Levine — ironically, the person with a last name that is the closest to her. He offered to give her unbiased feedback … not that she would probably need it.
In the end, she picked Blake Shelton as her coach, and this is pretty much surprising to no one when you consider for a minute precisely what her musical history is. She said that she just moved to Nashville and is working on writing some songs. This is the sort of person he can help, and we think that the real winning argument here was Blake making it clear that he is more than capable of being there for her after the show. He’s got the connections to follow that up, and he’s got the track record with Cassadee Pope, RaeLynn, and others of actually talking the talk and walking the walk.
Is it boring and predictable for country artists to pick Blake? Sure, but it’s also smart.

“I’m Yours” from Jason Mraz is one of our favorite songs, and she co-covers that song in the video below.
