The Voice preview: See Casi Joy’s ‘Blue’ blind audition, hear original music!

Tonight’s new episode of The Voice (yes, there is one airing tonight) will feature a Casi Joy Blind Audition, and it’s one that gets all four of the coaches turning around … even if not all of them seemingly have all that great of an opportunity to actually get her on their team. Let’s face it, she is a country singer who hails from close to the Nashville area (specifically, Kansas City) — she has to think that Blake Shelton is her best chance to make it big in the genre.

If she were to think that, she’d probably be right. As much as we want to see parity between country artists on the show, the only two who’ve made it big so far are Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery, and they were both on his team. Blake takes care of his own!

This video below features Joy performing the LeAnn Rimes classic “Blue,” and it doesn’t take too long to realize why she’d be a hot commodity. She’s got a really interesting voice that while country, has some other elements in there that you don’t get elsewhere. She does have some pop influences and is capable of some crossover appeal. In doing some research before her episode airs, we did discover that she also does have some background in rock music and therefore may have an interest in taking on some music there, as well.

In other words, the other coaches do theoretically have a shot here.

Just in case you want to hear a little bit more of what Casi can do in terms of her overall music catalog, the video below features a teaser to her recent EP entitled Love on Repeat. It gives you a good sense of everything else that she can do, and that is something in general we’re looking to do a little more of this season. Since the show doesn’t always do an adequate job promoting its artists outside of what they do on TV, maybe it’s time we take that a little more on ourselves, no?
