Saturday Night Live notes: Octavia Spencer preview; Alec Baldwin’s ‘campaign’
With the Octavia Spencer – Saturday Night Live episode airing this weekend, why not bring you a small taste of what to expect from it?
If you look below, one of the two exciting clips that we’ve got for you is the first promo for this weekend’s episode featuring Spencer as host, one where she is hilariously dismissive of anything that Seth Meyers has to say after she accidentally wanders into his studio instead of the one for the sketch show. There’s a nice bit of meta-comedy in here, mostly because it reminds you that even though Meyers left the show and his head writer position, it’s not like he’s far away. The team can communicate with him at almost any time with almost zero effort.
It’s nice to see Seth embrace the show and having some fun here with Spencer. It almost makes you wonder if he would ever consider coming back as a host or a Weekend Update anchor once again. With the rumors surrounding a possible Bobby Moynihan departure, it’d be nice to see him with Drunk Uncle one more time … or maybe Bill Hader’s Stefon, just because that was one of the greatest characters ever.
Does Alec Baldwin want to play Trump at White House Correspondents’ Dinner?
In the wake of the news that the real President is going to be skipping the famed dinner this year, there are questions aplenty already surrounding whether or not we could end up seeing Baldwin take on the role of comedian, or both comedian / President at the same time. Judging from some of what he told Jimmy Kimmel this week, he does seem absolutely open to the idea.
We know that Baldwin’s spoke about Trump on a number of different occasions already, but there is still something about him playing the part outside of the makeup that does still make us laugh.
Oh, and if you missed it, Baldwin is apparently set to co-write a book that is all about Trump, and he will record an audiobook version using his signature impression.
