Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick to receive weekly AMC talk show
Today, it was officially confirmed that Hardwick will be hosting a weekly AMC show Talking with Chris Hardwick in the weeks that Talking Dead is not on. During these weeks, he will interview either a person or a group of people (i.e. a cast) in his signature style. It’s a nice gig for Hardwick, especially when you consider everything else he’s got going on in between his AMC work, hosting The Wall, the Nerdist Podcast, and also @midnight over on Comedy Central. It’s hard to figure out how he has the time to do all of it, but he figures it out!
In a statement, Hardwick had the following to say about getting the gig:
“Talking will have the skin of Talking Dead, the soul of the Nerdist podcast and the guts of a Comic-Con panel … I have loved learning how to do a talk show these last six years on Talking Dead, but am eager to expand the format into other areas of pop culture.”
As a longtime fan of Hardwick’s work, the idea for the show excites us just because we feel like he shines the most in this long-form interview setting. The Nerdist Podcast remains the favorite that he does just to see the conversation shift into surprising and wonderful places. We’ve got a list of ones that we could listen to several times over and not get bored — some (see the LeVar Burton and Daniel Radcliffe episodes) are absolutely hilarious, whereas some other ones (see the second Bob Saget interview) are healing and cathartic. They’re relatable in a way that few other conversation-based podcasts are.
We’ll see what this brand of Talking is like when it premieres on Sunday, April 9. So much of the show’s success could be based on the format and the guests.
