Where do Shadowhunters season 2 ratings stand entering winter finale?
Last night’s new episode ended up drawing in total a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is a decline from the 0.3 that it drew the week before. The bad news is that in terms of total viewers, the show brought in its lowest overall audience to date in 520,000 viewers. Why the decline? The biggest thing that you could attribute it to is the presence of The Voice joining the lineup over on NBC. This show’s aired against all of the other competition out there for the entirety of the season to date, so that is the only factor to have changed.
Hopefully, we can see a slight uptick to a 0.3 for the winter finale, since that will set things off on a better note entering the second part of the season. The thing with Shadowhunters as a series for the time being is that it brings a lot to the table in that it’s incredibly popular with a certain demo, it has fans all over the world, and its social engagement is off the charts! The majority of people who are watching it are tweeting about it, but it’s hard to monetize tweets. The show needs to find a way to boost its live viewing figures; otherwise, it’s hard to feel confident about its future beyond the next half of the season.
As for what else is going for its favor, our numbers only include live+same day figures. We understand that there are people who record the show and also people who watch in On-Demand or via other means. Many of those numbers count if you’re getting official advertisements; watching live is always the better alternative if you want to help the show as much as possible.
