The Voice episode 2: Autumn Turner opens the show with ‘Last Dance’
Tonight, the second episode of The Voice aired on NBC, and as a result of that, we’ve still got that new-car smell on the blind auditions. They feel fresh, and we’re still getting excited about all of the performers hitting the stage.
Now, Autumn Turner is entering the equation. She performed “Last Dance” at the start of tonight’s show, and gave a performance that was electric enough that she got all of the coaches on the show to turn around. She received a great deal of praise, and she deserved it for all of the energy that she brought to the table here.
As for who she ended up choosing, let’s just say that Alicia Keys’ team is looking mighty strong so far this season. After getting Felicia — otherwise known as the best singer of the season — on last night’s new episode, we then had a chance to see Alicia scoop up someone else extremely talented. As for what this means for the remainder of the season, let’s classify that firmly as “too early to tell.” We’d be completely ridiculous to sit here and be able to project everything that would be coming up down the road on the second night of the show, so the best thing that Alicia can do is scoop up talent and allow them ways to succeed.
For Alicia, we hope this season that she gets Autumn and some of her artists the ability to come out and give interesting, innovative covers to their songs. Allow their artistry to shine! Give people something that they haven’t heard before, which is something that she’s certainly excelled at over the course of the series herself. This blind audition was really just the beginning of bigger things that will be coming later on down the road.
