The Fosters season 4, episode 15 preview: Callie’s presentation

Callie -

There is a new episode of The Fosters airing on Freeform tonight entitled “Sex Ed,” and that in itself is a reference to everything that Jude is going to be going through. He wants to learn more about how to protect himself, but there’s no program available at Anchor Beach for LGBTQ youth. Therefore, he may try to find information on his own, and this leads to risky results.

Beyond that, Callie will have a major story of her own as she uses her senior project in order to share experiences about what she’s been through. Suffice it to say, she’s been through a LOT. She was in the foster-care system for years, she was abused, and she’s now spent time in juvenile hall on more than one occasion. She tries to bring this message to other young people, and they seem fairly receptive to it. They hear her out, which is more than many adults have.

Unfortunately, we do know that at some point during this episode, someone will try to silence Callie in some way and keep her from continuing to reinforce her point of view. That is very much sad, but not altogether surprising given that this is a world a culture that finds value in repression, and keeping people from understanding points of view that may be deemed as sensitive.

By the end of this episode, maybe we will get a further sense of what awaits Callie and Jude by the end of the season. The biggest cause for concern with Callie will come as she faces more consequences for her decision to leave the scene of the crime earlier this year. She may have an explanation for it, but that does not mean that she will be heard.
