Is Madam Secretary new tonight? We look beyond season 3, episode 14

Madam

It makes sense to ask the question of “is Madam Secretary new tonight,” even in the context of tonight being the Academy Awards. After all, there are so many people out there who really could not care less about the Oscars at this point, and are far more interested / excited in seeing what’s going on with Elizabeth McCord in Washington.

Unfortunately, we do come bearing a little bit of bad news, as there is (alas) no new episode of the series coming on CBS tonight. The simplest answer for that is that the network understandably doesn’t want to run the risk of airing something against the Oscars and losing viewers. It makes sense to be upset about that if you’re not a fan of the awards show, but here’s what we would tell you as a counter: This is a show on the bubble for renewal. Even if it suits your own self-interest to get a new episode tonight, it would hurt the show’s renewal odds to air an episode tonight that draws lower ratings because too many viewers are doing other things. It’s better to just let this one go, regroup, and then come back next week to see the return of the show.

Recently, we did tell you a thing or two about next week’s “Labor of Love,” so we invite you to visit the link here to get some further insight on what is going to be a key component of that story.

For the sake of the rest of this article, we want to give you some of the first scoop on the March 12 installment of the show entitled “Break in Diplomacy.” Here are a few things that you can expect to see.

-Elizabeth will send Jay on a mission to look further into Kevin Park, our new resident mystery man who has more going on than it seems.

-Henry will develop some fears over one of his operatives thanks to where he’s located: Within the mire of a religious cult.

-As for Elizabeth herself, she’s going to deal with some surprising trouble courtesy of the new President of the Philippines. Given that the actual head of the country has drawn some headlines for his comments over time, nothing about this story on paper surprises us.
