Call the Midwife season 6, episode 7 preview: Thalidomide aftereffects; Nurse Crane drama

Call the Midwife -

In this Call the Midwife season 6, episode 7 preview, we’re going to be looking at an issue and a story that first surfaced on the show last season. It’s one that is emotional, poignant, and definitely looks as though its specter will loom large once more in Poplar and beyond.

So how will it be integrated into the series once more? Within the scope of this particular preview, we do hope to provide some further analysis on the subject.

Synopsis – “Dr Turner helps the Mullucks cope with the stresses of caring for a disabled child as the terrible legacy of thalidomide becomes apparent and Nurse Crane faces an unexpected crisis.”

The issue of thalidomide is one that Turner did struggle with on this past season of the show, and understandably so given that this was something that caused him to feel remorse and regret. It’s unfortunately just the product of the times. You did things with the intention of helping others, but due to a lack of resources or research, sometimes they had an adverse effect.

As for some of the other characters, their futures still remain unclear. One of the unusual things that the series is doing at present is keeping finer details under wraps for Barbara and Trixie. Even recently on the show, more of the long-term story has been geared around Sister Mary Cynthia and her treatment from electroshock therapy. There is also still the adjustment period for Valerie Dyer at Nonnatus. These are matters that may still last the remainder of the season, and it is our belief that eventually we will see the return of Patsy Mount.

Preview – There will be more tension for Nurse Crane regarding her role with some of the other nurses; meanwhile, we saw in the preview after tonight’s episode a story coming regarding artificial limbs, and the concern that a parent could have over how their child could be treated as a result of the ailment.
