The Blacklist season 4 spoilers: Katarina Rostova will return
How’s this for a great bit of news? Katarina Rostova will return to The Blacklist later this season, and with that, we have to imagine that there will be questions aplenty regarding the how.
What we do know for certain is that this is something that is going to be coming up a little bit later during the upcoming fourth season. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, the famed character (otherwise known as Liz’s mother) will be coming back in a surprising way as we push further into season 4. Unfortunately, there is no word on if this is the past incarnation — otherwise known as the one we’ve seen as played by Lotte Verbeek — or one that exists within the present.
While it would open a rather large and rather glorious can of worms if this was the present-day Rostova coming aboard the series, at the same time there is so much still to love about the idea of seeing the past incarnation turning up again. We say this with the opinion in mind that “Cape May” is one of the finest episodes of the entire series. There is a haunting quality that Verbeek brings to the role, and it’s something that could function rather well again on the series.
One thing that could keep this from happening, however, is Verbeek’s presence over on another show we frequently cover in Outlander, given that she is expected to be a big component of the upcoming third season there.
At present, here’s to hoping that you’re the patient type. Regardless of what version of Katarina you want to see on the show, you will be waiting to see her. The Blacklist is on hiatus from now until April, with the spin-off The Blacklist: Redemption airing in its place. Even though the new show did not get tremendous ratings in its debut outing, we anticipate that it will hold much of them given that the majority of people who watched are likely people who already know they like the character.
