‘Scorpion’ season 3, episode 17 preview: Happy, Cabe take on their worst fears

Monday night’s new episode of “Scorpion” is going to be a true test of many of the characters’ mettle, mostly because they will be facing off against something that they don’t often have to while out in the field: Their own worst fears.

The crux of the story is this: While undergoing a mission to protect a seed bank (one that of course looks on paper to be much easier than it actually is), the likes of Happy, Sylvester, and Cabe are going to find themselves in a challenging position where they are trapped, and find themselves receiving a series of bizarre, dangerous hallucinations.

There will be a time when some of these seem funny, but over time, they could end up becoming more and more sad. For one example, just take a look at the promo below to see Happy explain that all she wants is to feel normal. Based on her outfit, this is something that she may have felt when she was a child. Meanwhile, Cade clearly has a fear of growing older, since we see him quickly transform into some several decades older than he is. These are sad in a way, given that they show you precisely what some of these people are afraid of, and how some of these said fears could define them and in part control their subconscious.

Also, if exposed to enough of this, there’s a good chance that the three will die. This REALLY isn’t a good season for all of the near-death experiences when it come to Cabe, given that earlier this season we did see him frozen as a way to temporarily suspend him and bring him back to life. (This is the sort of stuff you really gotta be prepared for if you join Team Scorpion! It’s not always so easy to stay alive.)
