‘The Good Fight’ video: Christine Baranski, Carrie Preston, and more talk returning guest stars
Sunday night, it finally arrives: The premiere of “The Good Fight” on CBS! The premiere episode will be airing on the network, and from there, Diane Lockhart and company will be waltzing their way over to the All Access streaming service for the remainder of the season.
This is where the interesting question lies: Is this something that people will be convinced to spend the money on? There is a challenge here in that the service costs $5.99 a month with commercials, or $9.99 without. If you’ve already got CBS on your cable plan, it’s hard to convince people to tack that much money on for just one show, especially if you have a DVR. This means that viewers will effectively be paying for one show and maybe to occasionally watch repeats for other things here and there making $9.99 a month pretty hefty. We know this is a bit of a tangent, but we think that the All Access platform would be a bit more lucrative if CBS gave their subscribers access to East Coast and West Coast feeds of their programs, given that not everyone is able to catch the one where they live.
Now, let’s get back to “The Good Fight.” The video below is great in that it reminds you of some of the people who you got to know on the original show that are coming back in some capacity, even if they are recurring characters like Judge Abernathy, Elsbeth Tascioni, Marissa Gold, or Kurt McVeigh. Obviously you’ve got Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo, but seeing other faces like Gary Cole and Carrie Preston just gives the show all the more credibility.
If it helps you to make a decision to get All Access (you can sign up for a week free), all early reviews for the show are pretty outstanding. If the rest of the series ends up being similar quality, this move could prove to be incredibly worthwhile — especially since you’re getting an edgier show that won’t be bound to network restrictions anymore. If this is a success, we expect that they would want to produce more for the streaming service making the price tag worth while.
