Ratings: ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ ‘MacGyver’ hit a big surge; ‘Reign’ season 4 starts low
As we’ve noted as of late, we’re shifting these ratings articles more into a Greatest Hits sort of format in order to give you a little more of a specific look into some of what is actually shifting and changing on a daily basis. For Friday night, there were actually several big movers and shakers as opposed to the week before.
“Hawaii Five-0” – Great news for CBS and the crime drama, given that it managed to tie “Shark Tank” for #1 on the night with an impressive 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic for a really entertaining Valentine’s Day episode. This marks the show’s best rating since November, and it still remains ahead of last year in the demo. Basically, we’re easily on the way to a season 8 renewal here!
“MacGyver” – Meanwhile, the lead-in to “Hawaii Five-0” also improved more than 20% from last week in posting a 1.2. While not confirmed, we feel almost 100% confident that there will be a second season here. This is the best overall performance for a Friday-night CBS series at 8:00 p.m. Eastern in some time; it’s not even just about its own rating, as it is helping the shows that follow it.
Also, we do think that it’s helping the show dramatically that it keeps getting better and better in terms of quality. (For those wondering, “Blue Bloods” ticked up slightly and finished with a 1.2 rating — it wasn’t drastic enough of a change to merit a full report.)
“Grimm” – Not that it matters that much given that this is the final season, but we don’t want to see the show end on a whimper. It posting a 0.7 rating last night isn’t the sort of thing that gets us tremendously excited.
“Reign” – Meanwhile, the same goes for this show getting a 0.2 rating for its season premiere. Given that this was the first episode, you had to hope that there were going to be a chorus of viewers coming back who were excited to see what the show could do.
What did you check out on the air Friday night, if anything? Be sure to share some of your thoughts right now with a comment!
