Rosie O’Donnell won’t be Steve Bannon on ‘Saturday Night Live’ — at least for now

SNL -It feels pretty clear to say that there is a good bit of internet enthusiasm surrounding the idea of Rosie O’Donnell being Steve Bannon on “Saturday Night Live.” After all, why wouldn’t you want an opportunity to get these sort of headlines if you were the late-night show? Rosie’s already shown that she could emulate him when it comes to her appearance, and on top of that, she and President Donald Trump have a long-standing feud that dates back to her days on “The View.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that Rosie will be gracing Studio 8H with her presence for this coming weekend’s show. According to Entertainment Weekly, the appearance is happening alongside host Alec Baldwin, but you never know what may happen down the road. The show does already have a Steve Bannon in Mikey Day, who is depicting the key adviser as a Grim Reaper sort of figure sporting a mask.

Beyond this weekend’s show, NBC has not made their schedule for future episodes altogether clear. It’s possible that there may not be a new episode until February 25 or even March, especially given that they did so many shows in the first half of this season specifically for the purpose of trying to capitalize on the attention surrounding the Presidential Election. What may surprise them now is just much attention the series continues to be getting thanks to everything from more Baldwin to the appearance from Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer last week. While we still have no idea precisely how long they’re going to be able to keep Alec around as the character, we will enjoy it however long we can.

Also, moving forward into this weekend there’ll be some nice opportunities to check out some of his other characters. After all, we figure that it’ll be great for the average viewer to remember that he’s done some other great stuff on the show over the years.
