TV Quick Hits: ‘Silicon Valley’ season 4 premiere date; ‘Stranger Things 2’ gets ‘Finding Dory’ director; more ‘MasterChef Junior’
Let’s start this edition of TV Quick Hits with news from “Silicon Valley” — the show, not the place.
Specifically, the HBO series will be airing its fourth season starting on Sunday, April 23 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, which is basically what we expected when you look at the run for many other shows on the network. “The Leftovers” and “Veep” are starting their respective runs a week earlier on April 16, and that suggests to us that a 90-minute premiere for “The Leftovers” seems likely.
The sad news is that this premiere date is likely an indicator that the show’s going to have lower ratings, given that it’s not airing after “Game of Thrones” anymore. Still, this is “Silicon Valley,” and you should watch just because it’s hilarious and worthy of every single second of your time.
Our premiere guide has been officially updated with this information.
“Stranger Things 2” will have Andrew Stanton on board – As a part of a new Entertainment Weekly story, it was revealed that the Pixar visionary (most known for directing “Finding Dory,” “Finding Nemo,” and “WALL-E”) is going to be coming on board to direct a pair of episodes. As it turns out, he’s an enormous fan of the series — which really just makes him the same as the majority of the people out there.
It was revealed over the Super Bowl that the second season will premiere around Halloween — it’s still not clear if October 31 is the official launch date, or if Netflix is speaking more in general terms.
“MasterChef Junior” reportedly renewed – Finally, let’s close here with some great news for those out there who love the cooking show: You’re going to be getting a lot more of it! TV Series Finale did some digging and found a strong bit of evidence that the show’s already been given a sixth season — heck, it’s already gone through casting and much more. The fifth season just premiered last night, and there is seemingly going to be a whole lot more where that comes from.
