‘Katrina: American Crime Story’ casts Annette Bennig
The next chapter of “American Crime Story” has absolutely taken its time when it comes to making announcements, especially in terms of some of the various cast members who will be taking part (beyond, of course, Sarah Paulson). We’ll ultimately take whatever we can get, which is why we’re somewhat pleased today to know that none other than Annette Bennig (“American Beauty”) is going to be taking part in “Katrina: American Crime Story,” the next season of the show.
While it’s not entirely clear at present if every actor on this upcoming season will be playing real-life figures, it is now confirmed that the Golden Globe-winning Bennig will play Kathleen Blanco, the Governor of Louisiana at the time of the infamous Hurricane. Her role in handling the disaster is going to be one of many different things that this show examines, as the goal seems to be taking a panoramic view of every single facet of what happened.
It’s gratifying to know the casting, but the reality here still remains that you will be waiting for a good while to learn some additional information. After all, new episodes of the show are not going to be airing until 2018, as producers are making sure that the necessary time is spent in order to get the story right. It’s an ambitious idea, but if we are being perfectly honest, it’s also a concept that we’re still reasonably unsure of in terms of precisely how it is going to work. After all, you do have to remember that the first season of the show was geared much more around a traditional crime case, while this is taking a far more experimental approach. While you may consider what happened in New Orleans to be criminal in terms of the lack of preparation and treatment, it’s not a crime in the same sort of literal sense.
