Tiffany & Co. use a glam Lady Gaga for 2017 Super Bowl commercial
Clearly, there is going to be a great deal of Lady Gaga all across the board when it comes to Super Bowl LI tonight. You’re going to see the pop superstar front and center for the Halftime Show put on by Pepsi, and you’re also going to be seeing her tonight in a commercial for Tiffany & Co., one of the finest jewelers out there.
This ad is not one of the most complex ones that you’re going to see out there tonight. As a matter of fact, we’d wager that this one is incredibly simple. After all, you’re really just talking about a spot that is going to feature some glamorous looks at the pop superstar talking about creativity and style.
What worked – The biggest thing of note here is that this is Gaga! You’re getting one of the biggest stars on the planet to advertise your brand, and you’re getting a chance to make it happen at a time in which EVERYONE is going to be talking about her tonight. This is what we like to consider a rather big deal. The look and the style of this ad is also top-notch from start to finish. This feels exactly like what you would want to see from a Tiffany & Co. ad — it highlights everything that is important to the company in terms of creativity and high fashion.
What didn’t – You’re really not pushing the envelope at all here. This is almost the textbook definition of a jewelry ad, especially for someone like Tiffany & Co. If you’re coming into this game looking to be surprised, you’re not going to feel that way after watching this.
Overall – It’s hard to dock a company like Tiffany & Co. for not being edgy or different, given that they are a brand that really doesn’t need to be. This isn’t there focus, and there is zero reason for this to be their focus. They need to rely more on what they do best, and that is sell the quality of their products and how you feel like a movie star while wearing them. Gaga brings that quality, and with that, this is a worthy ad.. Grade: B+.
