‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Why is Vanessa Grimaldi upset after latest group date with Nick Viall?
We feel like the majority of people out there can agree that group dates on “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” can be a frustrating, almost-toxic environment. If there are people present at them that you don’t like, you quickly find that you spend far more time arguing than you do enjoying yourself. These feelings are often ratcheted up to another level when you’re forced to deal with something like jealousy or a competition on said date that leads to some people feeling excluded.
Based on the reactions of Vanessa Grimaldi and Danielle Maltby in the sneak peek below, it feels as though the latter is happening after a beach-side game of volleyball, one that presumably may have determined the people who would receive extra time with Nick Viall. Think about it this way — this is the second group date this season that rewards you based on being athletic, a trait that has absolutely nothing to do with love.
Vanessa is worried that thee dates are not designed for her to get more time with Nick, and in the end could end up hurting her chances further to be with him. She claims that she’s been patient, which for the most part we’d agree with given that she has not been someone who complained extensively over the course of the entire season. She’s just upset in the moment, which is an emotion that many women who get on this show feel given that you want a lot of time with someone given how much of your life you’re giving up to be there.
If we were the show, we’d devise something new so that the losers of a given date don’t get punished by not getting as much alone time — but, they probably won’t listen to that, given that this does often lead to moments like this. These are the sort of things that ABC can package together into sneak peeks and put out into the internet for everyone to see.
