‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13: See Ellen Pompeo – Camilla Luddington spoof Beyonce pregnancy announcement
Mrs. Carter: Here’s a little bit of fun from the “Grey’s Anatomy” gang!
As many people out there may be familiar with, Beyonce recently made an epic Instagram post in order to announce that she and her husband Jay-Z were expecting twins. This photo certainly is serving as inspiration for many a parody, and that includes the fun one below featuring Ellen Pompeo and Camilla Luddington. In this video (directed by frequent “Grey’s Anatomy” director / executive producer Debbie Allen), Pompeo herself ironically plays the role of director as she does her best to guide Camilla, who is currently expecting, into the perfect pregnancy photo of her own. To add irony on top of irony, Pompeo is actually directing her first episode of the ABC show this season.
Pompeo is quick to note that they are just having fun, and are not trying to mock Beyonce at all with their own little tribute. This more than anything just seems to be a fun way to bring attention to the show and Ellen’s upcoming episode behind the camera.
For those wondering, to date “Grey’s Anatomy” has not shown an interest in writing Luddington’s pregnancy into the show. This is something that Shonda Rhimes and the writers have gone back and forth on over the years, given that many stars, whether it be Sarah Drew to Jessica Capshaw, have welcomed children while working on the show. Often, much of it comes down to finding the place where it makes sense for the character to be expecting at the same time as the actor. In the case of Camilla’s Jo, remember that she hasn’t had a romantic partner in some time, but that could always change at some point down the road. There is still a lot of story left to tell this season.
