’24: Legacy’ video: Meet Eric Carter, and prepare for the series premiere
The series premiere of “24: Legacy” is coming up on Sunday night, and Fox is doing everything that they can in order to roll out the welcome wagon. Not only is the show getting the ultimate timeslot after the Super Bowl, but it’s also going to have an opportunity to jump straight from that to a timeslot on Monday night that feels pretty favorable for it being successful. If there was ever perfect counter-programming to “The Bachelor,” this is it. It’s a re-branding of the show with a new cast that should, at the very least, be somewhat familiar to longtime viewers of the franchise, but also bring in new viewers.
The new video below (via Fox) is your one-stop shop for everything that you need to know about the series. In it, you hear from the executive producers and star Corey Hawkins (of “The Walking Dead” fame) about the new story, and the leading man of Eric Carter. This is a guy who has returned from fighting overseas, and is eager for the next step in his life — which includes having a baby with his wife. However, what he’s not aware of is the emotional trauma he’s still facing, and a subconscious need to be a part of the action. He still craves it, which in part may be what eventually draws him in to the CTU and a life that Jack Bauer was once very familiar with.
This video also features interviews with many of the other cast members, whether it be Miranda Otto (“Homeland”), Jimmy Smits (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Dexter”) or Teddy Sears (“The Flash,” “Masters of Sex”). What we’re effectively trying to say here is that this cast is exceptional, and they’ve got a good mix of talent.
Not only that, but this series is going to continue to do one thing that the “24” franchise has long excelled at and that’s being contemporary. The writers are focusing on real-world problems that are impacting many citizens all over the world today, whether it be the threat of domestic terrorism to post-traumatic stress. They’re also doing their best to show positive representations of people from all sorts of religious backgrounds. It’s an action series that just so happens to also be inclusive.
