Ratings: ‘The 100’ season 4 down big; ‘Code Black,’ Fox’s ‘Star’ improve
Remember at the start of season 3 when “The 100” premiered to pretty fantastic ratings for The CW? That seems like even more than a year away now with what the season 4 premiere just pulled in.
The fourth-season premiere on Wednesday night ended up drawing just a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is down 40% from the show’s season 3 premiere figures and also down a tenth from the average for that season. If you’re looking for a silver lining, meanwhile, it is probably that a 0.4 rating is around where many of the latter episodes in season 3 fell. Whether you want to chalk up the decline to the backlash over Lexa’s death or the show airing later in the spring, both are probably valid to a certain extent as to why the numbers fell last year. They just didn’t pick back up last night, which is pretty disappointing since the premiere was actually quite good.
If you do still love the show, this is probably enough to get it potentially one more season if it can hold firm around here. If it struggles and slips further down the holw, then it may have a hard time getting another batch of episodes. Think of this as your cue to watch live!
As for some other ratings on the night…
CBS – “Hunted” stayed relatively steady with a 1.3, and that bodes well for its future — as does the fact that it actually tied “Criminal Minds,” a show that will almost surely be renewed even if it’s not the ratings monster that it once was.
Meanwhile, “Code Black” (1.1) showed some improvement leading up to the finale for the show next week.
Fox – Interestingly, “Star” finally improved for the first time versus a prior week in scoring a 1.3, and it did so without even running on the air against “Lethal Weapon.”
The CW – “Arrow” ended up drawing a 0.6 rating, about even with the episode before. Given how many people frequently complain about the show, we’re glad that it is even drawing this number at this point.
