‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ bringing in Jon Stewart tonight after Donald Trump controversies
For everyone out there pining to see Jon Stewart on late-night TV to discuss the latest headlines revolving around Donald Trump, we come bearing good news (a phrase that’s been rather rare these days) — there is an appearance coming from him tonight on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
As for why we’re getting him tonight … we don’t think that this is all that hard to figure out. Stewart was a frequent critic of Trump’s long before he became President, and we have to assume that there will be much more to say on the subject of many of his recent moves in office, from firing acting Attorney General Sally Yates to his move to block immigration and entry into the United States from seven different places in the world. It is a move that has sparked activism both in America and everywhere else in the world, and we’re sure that there are many people out there as eager as we are to see what Stewart will have to say about this.
Of course, it’s not lost on us that Jon’s comments, while they may be powerful and pointed, are still to many just either healing words or a moment of laughter during tough times. If you do feel strongly about some of what is going on in the country, one of the only ways to go about making change is activism. Think of his words as inspiration if you want to be politically active; enjoy having him on TV in the moment, but also look beyond that.
This appearance will not be the first time this week that a prominent name in the TV world has spoken their mind — James Corden delivered a quiet but touching segment on his show earlier this week, and you can also see below Ellen DeGeneres deliver a powerful monologue relating the immigration situation in America to her own movie in “Finding Dory.” Basically, she got political (which she rarely ever does) while not getting political at the same time.
We’ll have more on Stewart’s appearance soon; stay tuned. You can also share some of your thoughts with a comment below. (Photo: CBS.)
