‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Eva Longoria cast as Lucious Lyon rival
How about this for the latest in great “Empire” guest-star casting? Lucious Lyon is going to find himself a new opponent, and it’s someone who has a habit for being a little devious: Eva Longoria.
According to TVLine, the former “Desperate Housewives” star and executive-producer on “Devious Maids” (we’re still mad at Lifetime for canceling it) is going to be stepping into the series later this year as the wonderfully-named Charlotte Frost, a woman who is going to be in charge of running a powerful gaming commission in Las Vegas. As Lucious Lyon attempts to expand outward to the city, she is going to be one of the people ultimately responsible for determining whether or not he is going to be able to make it in Sin City. She holds a lot of power and influence, and there’s something incredibly interesting to us about the idea of Lucious having to convince someone else of power to do something for a change.
The third season of “Empire” certainly ended with many character’s statuses in flux, given that Andre continues to be a power player behind the scenes, Cookie’s uncovered some surprising secrets about Angelo, and Jamal is finally getting some treatment for his recent alcohol struggles. If you look across the board, it’s pretty darn clear that there are circumstances that are going to be divided the family up in the early going of the season and sending all of them into different places in the universe.
As excited as we may be about the casting, we still have to realize that this is something that we’re going to be seeing a ways down the road. After all, “Empire” for now is not slated to return until we get around to the spring; for the time being, new episodes of “Star” are airing in its timeslot Wednesday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
